Implant Supported Dentures

While typical dentures shift and require the use of denture adhesives to keep them in place, implants fit solidly, reducing the problems associated with traditional dentures such as gum sores, difficulty speaking and difficulty chewing. Implant supported dentures distribute your biting pressure more like natural teeth than traditional dentures, stimulating the supportive structures of your teeth and preventing the bone and soft tissues from shrinking away. You can replace an entire set of teeth with beautiful, natural-looking implants.

Dentures

A proper fitting denture is very important.  A good fit ensures that your dentures will allow you to retain much of your function, which is important for maintaining natural muscle tone in your face and jaw. Dentures will keep you looking and feeling healthy, and will help you retain a natural lifestyle. A lifelike smile and the best possible fit – those are two of the primary goals that your doctor will achieve if you need dentures to restore your smile.

Partial Dentures

A partial denture will provide you with a natural-looking way to restore your smile to its original brilliance. You will be pleased with how your new partial denture restores the gaps in your smile due to your missing teeth that cannot be corrected by a bridge. Your partial denture will be removable and made from a synthetic material supported by lightweight metal that mimics your gum tissue and teeth to give you a beautiful new smile. The partial denture will preserve your bone structure and the integrity of your existing teeth by preventing them from shifting and tilting in towards the gaps created by your missing teeth.

Crowns (Porcelain/Gold/Silver)

Your teeth undergo a tremendous amount of wear and tear during your lifetime. Teeth may show this wear in a variety of ways, including discoloration, chipping and cracking. Crowns restore your teeth and your smile to look brilliant once again. Porcelain crowns can be made out of porcelain pressed to metal or are porcelain throughout and can be shaded to match your other teeth. Crowns made of precious metal are also an option. After some tooth preparation, crowns are specially fitted to give you back the look and functionality of your smile. If you have pain when chewing or temperature sensitivity, ask Dr. Ostrem if crowns are for you.

Bridges

Sometimes gum disease, injury, decay or simply wear results in the loss of a tooth. A missing tooth or teeth can create significant problems for your dental health if not corrected. Over time your bite pressure may shift to other parts of your mouth to compensate for an inability to chew efficiently in the area of the missing tooth. Neighboring teeth may begin to move about, moving into the area and resulting in discomfort, pain and more problems down the road.  Bridges made of porcelain “bridge the gap” in your smile. Dr. Ostrem can create a lifelike, functional bridge to correct your smile, restore your bite and alleviate your discomfort. A bridge is created out of metal, alloys and / or porcelain and utilizes the teeth on both sides of the gap as its supportive structure. After some preparation of the two neighboring teeth, crowns are created for them. A prosthetic tooth, or pontic, is fused between the crowns to fill the area of missing tooth. A bridge is a semi-permanent dental restoration, meaning it can only be removed by your dentist, so you can rest assured that your porcelain bridge will be a lasting restoration for your oral health.
