technology
Your enjoyable dental experience depends on your comfort and safety. Dr. Ostrem and his team utilize the latest technological advances in dental equipment and techniques to ensure your satisfaction with both your visit and continued excellent health.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-Rays or radiographs are a technological advancement that results in less exposure to radiation for our patients and an almost instantaneous picture for our dentists. Unlike traditional, film-based x-rays, digital x-rays often show more detail and can be archived in our system for future reference and comparison. You will appreciate a more comfortable visit with less waiting and quicker treatment.

Diagnodent
The DIAGNOdent® is an exciting dental technology that allows us to find cavities on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, even when they are just beginning and would have been missed by previous detection methods. The DIAGNOdent® is a small, portable laser unit that detects the cavity and alerts us with an audible signal and a numerical readout, providing information about the cavity’s size. The value is that we can stop cavities in their infancy, whereas in the past they would have to be significantly bigger before we could find and treat them. Just like other areas of medicine and dentistry, early detection and treatment is of immeasurable value in preserving your health.
Intra Oral Camera
An intraoral camera lets you see inside your mouth during both treatment planning and dental procedures. Our intraoral camera displays your teeth on a video screen, allowing Dr. Ostrem to walk you through your proposed treatment. The use of this camera allows us to work with you as a team to meet your dental care goals. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and discuss your treatment options with you. We want you to picture how your appearance will improve with dental care, giving you all the more reason to smile.
Fillings
When the decay has been taken out of the tooth, it is replaced with “filling” material. In the past, amalgam (silver) fillings were placed into the cleaned out portion of the tooth. With advancements in dentistry, you can now have tooth-colored fillings instead of silver fillings resulting in a brighter, whiter smile.
Oraverse
You need a complex or restorative dental procedure, and that means using a local anesthetic for the pain. But you hate that numb feeling in your mouth that takes hours to go away after you leave the dentist. At Ostrem Dental, we have the solution: Oraverse.
Utilizing a startling breakthrough technology, Oraverse “reverses” the effects of local anesthesia, allowing you regain lip sensation in less than half time. With Oraverse, you can trust your smile, your speech, and your ability to eat and drink will return much faster, so you can get on with your life

Nightguard
Many people who notice chipped or cracked teeth, but don’t remember when the injury occurred, damaged their teeth while they were sleeping. Grinding or clenching your teeth during the night will cause your teeth to chip, crack and even break. To keep you from seriously damaging your teeth, we recommend a dental appliance called a night-guard, which protects your teeth from grinding & clenching in your sleep. Our team takes great care in making sure you have a proper fit to prevent pain in your jaw joint. Do you suffer from headaches? You may find that a side benefit of your night-guard is headache prevention. Many headaches start during the night, caused by the extreme pressure generated as you grind and clench your teeth. Ask our team about having a night-guard custom created for you.
NTI
While nightguards protect your teeth from grinding against one another and becoming damaged, a NTI is another solution.
A NTI is a small device that only covers your anterior teeth. Similar to a nightguard, it is made from acrylics and hard plastics. In addition to preventing the grinding of teeth, the extra benefit of the NTI is that over time, the device teaches your muscles to relax. In this way, a NTI may be able to help you break the habit of grinding all together. If you are suffering from frequent migraines as well as damaged teeth, a NTI may be the answer. Ask your Ostrem Dental team if an NTI is right for you.
Digital Photography
Digital photography gives Dr. Ostrem instant images to use for cosmetic imaging or to keep on file to track your progress. Digital images can be saved electronically and are more efficient than traditional photographs that show less detail and must be taken off-site for development.
